It is always fun to go outside and enjoy a nice hot summer day, but when you get home, you want to be nice and cool. Having an air conditioning system go out on you during the summer can be devastating. You want to make sure that the air conditioning system is in top shape for the summer. There are a few different things that you can do to help maintain a top-notch air conditioning system. Here are just a few ways to keep that air conditioning system up and running.
The air compressor that is usually located outside the home is often forgotten about. The compressor circulates the refrigerant fluid that is necessary for heat exchange through the coils of the indoor and outdoor unit. This is an integral part of the air conditioning system, and if it is not working properly, then you will not have cool air in the home. To keep the compressor working properly, make sure that you cut back all debris from around the compressor. You will then want to make sure that the inside is completely cleaned. You will be able to get most of the debris by hand, but it does not hurt to vacuum it out. Also, ensure that the compressor is completely level. If your compressor is not level, then the refrigerant fluid will not be able to circulate properly.
You may notice that over time your energy bills go up during the summer. Most people think that the air conditioning unit may just be getting old, but the truth may be a little bit simpler. It is possible that you have a problem with debris blocking the air ducts through your home. Imagine that your heart is the air conditioning system, and your veins and arteries are the air ducts. If you have a blood clot or high cholesterol, then your heart has to work much harder to pump your blood. The very same can be said of your air conditioning unit. If you have blocked ducts, then your air conditioning system is going to be working much harder to push air through the home.
Rather than try and fix a major problem that occurs every few years, it is smart to have a technician, such as from Metro Air, come and perform the minor repairs once a year. By allowing a technician to complete the minor repairs once a year, you will be significantly extending the life of your air conditioning unit.Share
